Interpretation of the Bible / 2 Corinthians 10:3

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.

One of the most interesting verses is found in 2 Corinthians 10:3, where we are told that although we walk in the flesh, we do not war in the flesh. What does this mean?

Walking in the flesh

In the context of this verse, “walking in the flesh” refers to following our worldly instincts and desires, that is, living a life focused on material things and our own personal satisfaction, without regard for the consequences or impact it may have on others. Instead, we are called to follow a more spiritual path and strive for the common good.

Warrior in the flesh

In contrast, “warfare in the flesh” means fighting using worldly methods such as violence, manipulation, and intimidation. Instead of following the example of Jesus Christ, who preached love and peace, those who war in the flesh often resort to brute force and aggression to achieve their goals.

The importance of non-combattiness

We must remember that God calls us to live in peace and love, always avoiding conflict and violence. Non-combatancy is an act of humility and wisdom, as it shows that we are able to resist the temptation to vengeance and respond in a way that glorifies God.
