SVG In Christ

Interpretation of the Bible / 1 Timothy 6:12

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

This verse from 1 Timothy tells us about the importance of fighting for our faith. Faith is a gift from God that we must protect, nurture, and develop throughout our lives.

What does it mean to “fight the good fight of faith”?

The word “fight” suggests that we are in a state of struggle, a spiritual fight. This could be a fight against temptation, sin, confusion, or adverse circumstances that could cause us to doubt our faith.

“A good fight” means that the fight is not in vain, that we are fighting for something valuable, something worthwhile. We are not fighting alone, but God is on our side.

What does it mean to “lay hold on to eternal life”?

Eternal life is a gift from God offered to us through Jesus Christ. As we lay hold of it, we firmly grasp the promise of eternal life in Christ and strive to live according to His teachings. It is not enough to simply believe in eternal life; we must change our lives to live according to God's will.
